Travel Doesn't Change You, It Does Something Much Better
Travelling reveals your core personality, level of patience and how you treat others during periods of extreme stress.

Travel doesn't transform who you are in reality; instead, it shifts your focus from your daily routines and reveals the core of your true personality. Many people pack up their bags and go to a new destination with a hope that this trip will transform them into a new “being.” Giving a visit to a new country doesn't mean that it will magically make you flawless because that's impossible, we all are flawed. Travelling acts as a mirror, showing you exactly who you have always been underneath the chaos of your daily life.

The False Belief Of The 'New You'

In a world where social media controls our life, we often come across posts where it seems that people have completely changed themselves into a perfect person after visiting a certain destination, but they never share the story of the backstage. It seems real but it is completely a misunderstanding that we carry with ourselves.

You cannot run away from your habits, fears or insecurities, the only thing you can do is to manage them up to a level where they do not interfere with your daily life. New scenery or place cannot change your brain entirely, but it can definitely change your environment which indirectly affects your thought process.

Shifting From 'Known'

At home, you see the same people, eat the same food and almost follow the same schedule. This cycle of daily routine creates a mask of comfort. So, when you travel to a new destination, that mask literally falls off. Visiting a new place means navigating unfamiliar streets, dealing with language barriers and handling unexpected challenges.

In a new place, no-one is aware of you, your history or anything related to you. So, you have the complete freedom to present yourself in whichever way you want, and by this, you actually reveal your true self. Credits: Google

These are those moments where you find out how you actually react to situations of stress, confusion and sudden bunch of surprises. Not only do you discover new traits but you also uncover those strengths that were hiding inside you for a long time.

What Travel Actually Reveals

Travelling to a new destination means new people, new faces, new culture and so on. But, when you look back you realise that the trip revealed many of your strengths that you weren't aware of:

In a new place, you have to eat unfamiliar street food or you are required to sleep in a noisy hotel, which tests your patience. Also, when you have to make a choice between a museum, a mountain bike or a cafe, it reveals what you truly enjoy when no one is actually watching you.

Most importantly, it also makes you independent. While you remain away from the constant peer pressure, you are eligible and feel confident enough to say yes and no to a particular situation by using your own logic and thinking capacity.

In a new place, it becomes difficult especially when it comes to talking to strangers. But with time you develop the confidence to talk with co-travellers and make your trip much more enjoyable and fun than before. Credits: Google

The Power Of The Travel

Travel is valuable as it offers you clarity. It forces you to spend time with yourself and know yourself in a better way. Sometimes, we are our best companions and removing all the other distractions of responsibilities, relationships, etc. we finally embrace that moment where we truly appreciate our own selves. After the journey is over, you return to your home with the same personality but with a much matured sense of thinking and understanding. That is the precious thing you have earned in your trip.
