After a 22-year wait, the Gunners are the champions of the Premier League. For the last three seasons, Mikel Arteta's men were finishing up as runners-up, but this time, they have broken the jinx and bulldozed every obstacle in their path. The last time they won was the 2003/04 season when Arsène Wenger was the coach, and they were called "The Invincibles" for their undefeated 38-match streak.

The 2003/04 team had legends like Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Robert Pirès, Ashley Cole and others. That season, they played 38 matches, won 26, and drew 12, which is still one of their best Premier League records. But the 2026 season is no less than a great achievement. It's a story of resilience, hard work, persistence, and fighting against all odds.

Though statistically, Arsenal were unofficially the winners after playing 37 matches, winning 25, drawing 7, and losing 5 matches, the title was confirmed when Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, leaving Arteta to become the first Arsenal manager to land the English football's best prize in 22 years. With this win, Arsenal now have four Premier League titles and will be eyeing the upcoming UEFA Champions League final against the mighty Paris Saint-Germain.

A Season to Remember Across All Fronts

While football is a team game, the biggest hero for Arsenal is 30-year-old Spanish Goalkeeper David Raya, who claimed the Golden Glove for a third successive season, and kept 19 clean sheets. With minimum conceded goals, Arsenal led the table for 200 days before Manchester City briefly nudged them off on goal difference, but four consecutive wins without conceding sealed them the championship they deserved.

The FA Cup was more of a bad dream. While Arsenal looked dominant in the early rounds, they crashed down at St. Mary's in the quarterfinal against Southampton. They could have taken that match to extra time, but super substitute Shea Charles ' 84th-minute goal sealed the victory for Southampton by 2-1. Fans got disappointed, but Arteta's men had bigger fish to fry in Europe.

Till now, Arsenal's having a dream run at the UEFA Champions League. After winning all eight league games, the Gunners finished as table toppers, above Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Spurs and Barcelona. They are the only side in the competition with nine clean sheets, and such a flawless record at that moment. The dream run continued, and they defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16, Sporting CP in the quarterfinals, and punched their ticket to the final by defeating Diego Simeone's Atlético Madrid 2-1 on aggregate.

The Players Carrying Arsenal to Glory

Viktor Gyökeres

Whether it is Bukayo Saka,  Viktor Gyökeres, Declan Rice, William Saliba or David Raya, every player has been contributing to Arsenal's cause this season. The 24-year-old Saka has recently surpassed 150 goal involvements for the club. Injury spells might have tried to stop him, but his recent performance against Fulham has proven that he is still the heartbeat and heartbreak avoider for the club.

Signing Viktor Gyökeres was one of the best decisions Arsenal made this summer, and it turned out to be fruitful. The Swedish striker scored 18 goals in his first season as a Gunner across four competitions, putting him among the best Arsenal debut seasons in the club's modern era - behind only Alexis Sánchez, Thierry Henry, and Ian Wright.

Driving, pressing, and leading are how Arsenal is dominating every club. The strong defensive trio of Declan Rice, William Saliba and David Raya are the backbone of the team. Saliba and Gabriel duo are arguably the best centre-back collaborations in England this season, while Raya's three consecutive Golden Gloves are a testimony in themselves. The team is not relying on a single player, but acting like a collective machine.

Can Arsenal Complete the Dream?

Puskas Arena

The final challenge for Arsenal would be in Budapest, where they will face the defending UCL champions, Paris Saint-Germain F.CF.C. The head-to-head record between the two clubs is tight. They have met seven times in the Champions League. Out of seven matches, PSG has won three, Arsenal has won twice, and two matches have ended in draws.

Luis Enrique's men would be hoping to defend their title against Arsenal in their third-ever Champions League final appearance. It would be interesting to watch PSG's dynamic attack take on Arsenal's rigid defence on May 30, 2026. While PSG is fighting for its title, Arsenal hopes to end its Champions League drought. This is their second appearance in the Champions League final, and they would have to make it count this time.

Statistically, anything is possible. Paris Saint-Germain's attack may have been unmatchable, and they would be aiming to become only the second club after Real Madrid to defend their title. Arsenal has built a side that is impenetrable defensively, and would be avenging their last season's semi-final defeat against the same French club. Will Arteta's Arsenal bring their first-ever Champions League trophy? Time will tell.
