In a groundbreaking collaboration, Walt Disney Imagineering and NVIDIA have recently unveiled a free-roaming, AI-powered robotic version of Olaf, our beloved snowman from the movie, “Frozen.” This isn't just a simple machine; it uses an advanced version of AI to move and interact just like any other character in the movie.
How Was It Made?
To make Olaf walk and balance on its own, Disney Researchers didn't just program his steps, instead, they used NVIDIA’s powerful computers to let a virtual Olaf “practice” walking millions of times in a digital world.
Due to this “simulation,” Olaf learned the skill to walk and stay upright within a span of just two days. He also has an “NVIDIA Jetson,” a small and a powerful computer, fit inside his head that helps him to see and interact with the world around him.
As per the size is concerned, he is about 3 feet tall, has a “snowy” sparkle and his carrot nose and stick arms can even pop off and on with magnets!

Where To Meet Olaf?
The AI-powered Olaf made his grand debut on stage with Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA at the GTC 2026 conference. Fans won't have to wait for long to see him:
Olaf has already greeted his fans on March 29, 2026, with the openings of the World of Frozen land, at the renamed Disney Adventure World.
The robotic snowman is also expected to join the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland later in 2026.
This partnership between Disney and NVIDIA is just the beginning. By reducing the development time through AI simulation, Imagineers currently aim towards populating the entire park with interactive, free-roaming movie characters to make the surroundings feel more magical than ever before.
