On June 26, 1984, Aubrey Plaza was born in Wilmington, Delaware, to a family of Puerto Rican, Irish, and English roots. Her parents were young when she was born. After she was born, her father, David Plaza, eventually became a financial advisor, and her mother became an attorney. She has two younger sisters, Natalie and Renee Plaza.

Her unique background influenced her personality and artistic expression. As a result, she started showing interest in performing arts, particularly improvization and comedy. As an NYU student, she developed a unique comedic style, which landed her in places. She got trained in sketch comedy and improv and performed at places like the Upright Citizens Brigade theatre, which shaped her personality.

When things were going alright, life happened. Aubrey suffered a stroke that temporarily affected her speech and movement, and nothing is more devastating for an artist than losing their ability to express. She was 20 at that time. Later on, she suffered a minor transient ischemic attack, but these setbacks could not stop her. She kept working, and her determination led her to where she truly belongs.

Acting is a tough world. We have seen how legendary actors waited for years to get a significant role, and the success followed afterward. Aubrey's Aha moment was getting the role of April Ludgate in the popular TV show Parks and Recreation. She portrayed a sarcastic and emotionally distant intern, which quickly became iconic, earning her a dedicated fanbase and critical praise.

The TV success helped her land in films, often the unconventional and indie ones. Her movies, like Ingrid Goes West and Emily the Criminal, proved her ability to act in darker and more intense roles. One of her biggest projects was The White Lotus, which starred Sydney Sweeney, Jennifer Coolidge, Walton Goggins, and Leo Woodall. The show cemented her versatility as an actress.

Her ability to mould herself in any role and not get typecast is what makes her stand out from the crowd. Whether it is comedy, drama, or thriller, Aubrey knows how to consistently bring a unique edge to her performances, which is why she is among the most intriguing actors in Hollywood today.

It is nearly impossible to live without controversies in Hollywood. While Aubrey has maintained a low profile, her life has not been without controversy and public attention. She was married to filmmaker Jeff Baena in 2021 and separated in 2024. Months later, Jeff Baena committed suicide with no single explicitly cited reason in a suicide note.

Aubrey was affected by what happened, and later she talked about how sad she was, saying it was an overwhelming and hard-to-understand time. People were sympathetic, but the media started to pay attention to her. People are also interested in her pregnancy news, but in a good way. But her personal life with Chris Abbott had mostly been private, which some paparazzi don't like.
